Finally had some time to think and ponder so let me answer this in a nice, detailed, full-transparency way that covers everything for those wondering about the structure of my inbox vs. the new community.

The short answer is: the community is a new wing of our chaotic little kingdom, not a separate country. I’m not relocating the entire fandom discourse—just expanding the ways you guys can interact with each other, not just with me.

The long answer (because I love being long-winded about things I care about):

The community space will be a place for you guys to post memes, scream, theorize, cry, and thirst collectively about all of my fics—past, current, future, unhinged drafts, etc. Each chapter will have its own dedicated thread. That means you can go wild in the comments under the chapter-specific post: scream about lines, characters, trauma, or unholy desires all in one neat place. No more wondering if your reaction will get buried in reblogs or if someone else had the same thought. You’ll see it, and you can respond directly.

That said: you can (and should!!) still reblog my chapter posts, add tags, send asks, and show love like always. Tumblr remains the home base. I will still be here, screaming and answering asks. The community is just a house party in the back room, a way for you guys to interact with each other without me mediating like a mom.

I created it because I noticed so many of you were interacting with each other through my inbox, my replies, and my post tags. Some of y’all are literally mutuals now because of my fic (omg congrats on the engagement btw). So this is me giving you a proper space to exist together. I’m just the host. You’re the party.

There will also be fun stuff! Like:

Idk how the legalities of this works, but would Netflix have a contract with Complete Fiction/Jonathan Stroud which is like a non-compete??

For someone else to pick up the show Netflix would have to want to release the property to another streaming service. This seems unlikely as it is such a bad look for Netflix if other shows are going around ‘saving’ they cancelled shows.

I really hope the show continues, but I feel there are definitely some legal issues with someone picking up the show. I can’t remember a show exclusively on streaming getting picked up by another company. Just food for thought.

Hi Anon! Thanks for the question -- it'll be a bit of a quick reply since we've covered a lot of your concerns in previous posts, but just to add our .2c:

To start, Jonathan Stroud is the one with the contract with CF (as he sold them the rights), but he has no contract with Netflix. Scarlett and Browne, another JS project, is coming out on Amazon Prime. "Non-Competition" clauses vary by sector, but suffice it to say that, given that CF/Joe Cornish have worked on/completed many different projects for different companies, it'd be a little odd to assume that they'd have a non-competition clause with Netflix specifically. CF isn't owned by Netflix; they're not one of their production studios that they've absorbed.

For your next concern, Netflix releases property that they own distribution to all the time -- that's why things leave Netflix. Rights expire -- that's part of every single contract out there. Is it a bad look for Netflix to release rights? Maybe, maybe not. Is it any worse of a look than to be known as the Place Where Shows Die? The Site of 1-Season Cancelled Shows? There's bad press here regardless, and it's not like one is Catastrophically Worse than the other. The bad press for Netflix is here to stay, from the sharing password fees to the cancelling of shows to the content of a lot of their material. I don't think it has any huge effect on our campaign.

As for your last question, both One Day At A Time and Uncoupled, as talked about here, qualify as examples of shows exclusively on streaming being picked up by another company. There are a few others that qualify as well, as noted in this article here.

Hope we were able to help! The only way that it's actually "impossible" for L&Co to get picked up is if nobody tries, and that's certainly not the case here.
